universal design award
Im November 2009 wurde ORNAMIN mit dem universal design award ausgezeichnet. Der Unternehmenspreis wurde erstmalig vergeben, den Rahmen bildete die universal design Expertenkonferenz in Weimar. ORNAMIN erhielt die Auszeichnung für seine innovativen und funktionalen Kunststoffprodukte und die vom Unternehmen gesetzten Impulse im Bereich des universal design - besonders die Einbindung der Nutzer in den Designentwicklungsprozess, wie beispielsweise im Fall des mehrfach ausgezeichneten Teller Vital, beeindruckte die Juroren. Ebenso ausschlaggebend für die Entscheidung der Experten des universal design e.V. war das Engagement von ORNAMIN im Bereich Nachhaltigkeit und soziale Verantwortung. Beispielsweise engagieren sich Mitarbeiter von ORNAMIN bei der Hausaufgabenbetreuung in Schulen, übernehmen Patenschaften für Kinder in Entwicklungsländern und gründeten den Verein "100% für Afrika". Zudem legt das Unternehmen hohen Wert auf die Ausbildung junger Menschen und begleitet sie auch über die offizielle Ausbildungszeit hinaus auf ihrem beruflichen Weg und eröffnet ihnen berufliche Perspektiven.
100 % FOR AFRICA
In summer 2008 a group of ORANMIN employees joined together to do something for people in need in Africa. In July the association 100% für Afrika e.V. was founded, which is registered in Minden and has been accepted by the Tax Office as a non-profit association.
Top priority is that every taken cent is destined to help people in Africa. Expenses such as administration, travel and other costs are borne by the employees from their private funds and the work for the association is done on a voluntary basis.
The first project is the construction of a well in Tongoronko, a village at Niger, where approx. 120 family are living nowadays.
FAIRTRADE

ORNAMIN obtains the excellent and provided with the fairtrade seal Gepa coffee from the fairtrade shop Weltladen in Minden in Minden and supports herewith the charitable organization TransFair. The aim of this organization is to support disadvantaged producer families in Africa, Asia and South America and to improve this way their living and working conditions.
WORLD VISION
In 2005 ORNAMIN took over the sponsorship for three children: Zeyniya from Ethiopia, Sixto Javier from Nicaragua and Maralmaa from Mongolia. In addition ORNAMIN supports the organization World Vision by substituting the usual Christmas presents such as wine, for donation certificates by World Vision.
REGIONAL COMMITMENT
ORNAMIN also stands up for children on a regional level. Thus ORNAMIN has taken over the educational sponsorship for a child within the scope of the social initiative of the “Minderne Wirtschaft” and provided the club Bückeburger Hockey Club with new hockey shirts.
The commitment of ORNAMIN goes beyond financial support. Some employees of ORNAMIN are personally engaged in different social projects at schools located in Minden-Lübbecke:
COOPERATION WITH THE JUNIOR Secondary SCHOOL “JAHN-REAL-SCHULE”
Since 2007 employees of ORNAMIN organize together with persons in charge of the secondary school “Jahn-Real-Schule” in Lübbecke an elective course for Students of 10th grade. The aim of this cooperation is to provide students a insight into the professional world and let them to work out independently results during this project, which are later put into practice.
Within the first two school years the development of an Internet platform for the sale of products of ORNAMIN PROVITA was the main task. The Internet-Shop was developed together by students of the Jahn school and trainees of ORNAMIN. For questions, they had the support of the Management of Ornamin, persons in charge of the school as well as the advertising agency of ORNAMIN.
This school year (2009/2010) students, who are taking part in this project, are going to organize a painting contest for ORNAMIN crockery.
APPLICATION DAYS
Soon school is over – and then? Then the serious business of life begins. But before it really starts, there are some obstacles to resolve: the application letters, pictures, application folder and finally: the interview. You can do many things wrong – but above all, a lot right. But what are the most important points a recruiter pay attention to? How can I leave a good impression? All these questions are resolved by the manager of ORNAMIN in collaboration with students of following schools located in the area of Minden-Lübbecke:
Secondary school, Jahn-Realschule, Lübbecke Secondary school, Realschule Hausberge, Porta Westfalica Secondary school, Freiherr-von-Vincke-Realschule, Minden Secondary school,Käthe-Kollwitz-Realschule, Minden Training school, Freiherr-vom-Stein-Berufskolleg (Economics and Administration)

HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE
Since the school year 2009/2010 some of ORNAMINs employees are engaged in two local schools, the secondary school Todtenhausen and the secondary school Freiherr-von-Vincke, visiting twice or three times a week both of them in order to help students with their homework, to read together and to support students from higher school grades with their application.
GIRLS‘DAY
ORNAMIN also supports the future Girl’s Day on which girls are introduced for a day to technical or technology-related occupations, as they seldom consider them during their occupational orientation.
PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AT ORNAMIN
For decades ORNAMIN forms young people for technical and administrative occupations. Furthermore ORNAMIN supports young motivated people, who aspire to a degree in humanities or natural sciences. The training rate is about 10 %. For ORNAMIN it is especially important to involve young people into the real working world and to delegate responsibilities.
In addition ORNAMIN offers school practical training as well as company training.
